Sheryl Youngblood was born into a musical family, with her mother leading the gospel choir The Royal Harmonetts and being a pianist and singer at church. This environment caused Sheryl to discover her love of music at an early age, playing piano and singing in church. In her teens, she formed her own all-female group called Sisters and began writing her own songs for church and other religious events.

Sheryl's talent eventually led her to join the famed gospel choir Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers, better known as The Tommies, a Grammy- and Stella Award-winning gospel choir. Over time, Sheryl collaborated with several famous blues and R&B artists such as Otis Clay, Koko Taylor and Jennifer Hudson.

In 2013, Sheryl formed her own blues band, Sheryl Youngblood Blues Band, and quickly established herself as a major artist playing at iconic venues such as Buddy Guy's Legends and House of Blues, as well as collaborating with Mississippi Heat.

In November/December 2024, she was with Stephen Hull and Dave Herrero on a European tour with the Chicago Blues Festival, and Wespelaar is the first time she will shine with her own full band from the Windy City.
